The Death of Windows 10, The Schlep vs. Roblox Situation has Gotten SO MUCH WORSE, and Spotlight on Pixel 9a - Worth the Price(?)

Hey, everyone! I'm Ethan K, and welcome to The Tech Center's Weekly Newsletter! In this week's newsletter, we're talking about Microsoft finally pulling the plug on Windows 10, Schlep's newest video regarding the Roblox controversy, and finally, we're shining our Center Spotlight on the Pixel 9a.

Ok, let's start with the big news (that happened just over a month ago, sorry that I'm super late 😐), which was, as most of you know, Microsoft ending support for Windows 10. On October 14, 2025, Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10, which meant no more updates or security patches for Windows 10 users, except for those on the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which was only for businesses and costed a lot of money per year. It doesn't really make sense for people to still be using Windows 10, as Windows 11 has been out for over 4 years now and Windows 10 is old, unsecure, and quite frankly, obsolete. You can read more about this story here.

Now, let's talk about the next highlight of this week - an update on the Schlep vs. Roblox controversy. If you don't know what this is about, here's a brief run-through - Schelp is a YouTuber who made videos catching predators on Roblox. On August 9th, Schlep received a cease and desist letter from Roblox, claiming that Schlep and his team were violating Roblox's policies, and terminated every single of Schlep's accounts, and threatened legal action if Schlep ever went back on Roblox ever again. The same day that he received the cease and desist letter, Schlep posted a video on his YouTube channel, explaining the situation and why it was wrong of Roblox to ban him. Ever since, the trend #FREESCHLEP has been trending on X, in-game protests have been held on Roblox, and many Star Creators have left Roblox's Star Program. Roblox has insisted time and time again that Roblox is the safest platform in the world, when it is quite obviously the opposite, and Roblox has lost over $12 million in revenue since the controversy began. Even worse, Roblox has been banned in at least 9 countries, and several politicians are calling out Roblox.

Now that we have a good understanding of the situation, let's talk about the latest video from Schlep. On November 8th, Schlep posted a new video titled "Roblox Contacted Me..." and in this video, he recapped the situation and what has happened since he posted his last video, and he claims that in November, Roblox contacted him, trying to see if it was possible for Schlep to be able to get back into the Roblox community. While this seems like a good thing on the outside, Schlep claims that Roblox contacted him directly instead of going through his lawyer, which is a big no-no in legal situations. Additionally, Schlep cares more about punishing predators and keeping kids safe on the platform instead of just getting back a few Roblox accounts. Since this, Roblox has not responded to Schlep's lawyer, and Schlep has no plans to back down. You can watch Schlep's latest video here or by clicking the image below.

Now, let's get to our weekly Spotlight! This week, we're shining a spotlight on the Pixel 9a - Worth the Price(?).

Pixel 9a in All Four Colors

Specs:

Now that we have the specs out of the way, let's get to the review. The Pixel 9a is Google's latest budget phone, and it is a solid choice for anyone looking for a budget phone with great software and camera performance. The Pixel 9a's design is sleek and modern, with a plastic back and aluminum frame. The display is bright and vibrant, with a 60-120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling and gaming smooth. The Tensor G4 chip provides decent performance for everyday tasks, but it may struggle with more demanding apps and games. The camera is where the Pixel 9a really shines, with Google's computational photography producing stunning photos in various lighting conditions. The battery life is also impressive, easily lasting a full day of use. However, the Pixel 9a does have some drawbacks, such as the lack of a headphone jack and limited storage options. Overall, the Pixel 9a is a great budget phone that offers excellent camera performance and solid software experience for its price point. If you're looking for a budget-friendly phone with great camera capabilities, the Pixel 9a is definitely worth considering.

Now, for the big question: is it worth the price? One word - yes.

Well, that's it for this week's newsletter! Next week, we'll be talking about the new PlayStation Monitor, the new Steam hardware, and shining a spotlight on the iPhone 16e. We'll see you then, and thanks for reading!

About

Hi, I'm Ethan K, the creator of The Tech Center! I'm 14 years old and live in Ohio. I love technology of all kinds - car software, smartphones (my most favorite), computers, gaming consoles, you name it! I am currently taking an Intro to HTML class at Columbus State Community College through the CCP (College Credit Plus) program, and my major is in Computer Science Web Development. I like to hang out with friends, scroll through YouTube shorts, play the piano, make stories, and play video games in my free time. Some of my favorite video games include Astro Bot, Minecraft, FNAF, the Little Nightmares series, and Forza Horizon 5, but my all-time favorite game is Roblox DOORS.
